Methodology
How we calculate and publish every score
KnowYourPMS standardizes SEBI disclosures into a comparable format. We do not sell distribution, accept PMS commissions, or alter scoring based on commercial relationships.
Data sources
- Source hierarchy: SEBI disclosures first, then APMI, provider documentation, and finally explicitly labelled derived values.
- Monthly returns, AUM, and client counts use the final calendar day of the reporting month.
- Pages expose the latest available period, not a claim that the data is current or complete.
KYP score (v1.0)
Composite score blends CAGR, max drawdown, Sharpe, Sortino, and win ratio into a 0-100 scale with an A+ to D grade.
| Metric | Weight |
|---|---|
| CAGR | 25% |
| Max Drawdown | 25% |
| Sharpe Ratio | 20% |
| Sortino Ratio | 15% |
| Win Ratio | 15% |
Metric basis
A value is reported only when it appears in the source disclosure. Values calculated by KnowYourPMS carry a formula, inputs, period, and net/gross basis in the evidence API; they are shown as derived.
| Metric | Basis | Definition |
|---|---|---|
| Returns / CAGR | Reported or derived | Periodic return series and annualized growth. |
| AUM / clients | Reported | Source-published month-end values where available. |
| Drawdown / ratios | Reported or derived | Risk and consistency calculations over the stated history. |
| KYP score / grade | Derived | Versioned composite of the published core metrics. |
Missing data and revisions
- Not reported means the source was available but did not publish that metric; not applicable means the metric does not apply.
- Estimated, stale, conflicted, and parse failed states are never silently converted into zero or a clean value.
- Evidence observations are append-only. A correction creates a new revision while the previous revision remains queryable.
- Coverage and freshness are shown only when the evidence API has records. If it is unavailable, the legacy scorecard remains visible with its available period clearly labelled—never as a claim that the calendar month is current.
- Source hierarchy is SEBI disclosures first, then APMI, provider documentation, and explicitly labelled derived values.
Developers and researchers can use the developers guide and the methodology API endpoint plus provider-page API/CSV links when configured.
Exclusions and caveats
- No forward-looking recommendations or target prices.
- Style drift requires holding-level history and is flagged where available.
- Upside/downside capture appears when benchmark return series is available.
- Survivorship disclosure is maintained in the changelog with strategy lifecycle notes.
